French Connection Group doesn’t have a large US store presence, but the one it has will get a lot smaller. The British apparel retailer is closing 17 of its 23 stores here after posting a fiscal-year loss.
While its store count isn’t large, nearly all FCUK stores are in prominent locations in the US, either in the most dominant mall, urban shopping area or outlet center in their locales.
Media reports did not name which stores will shut their doors. We would think the good news for landlords with FCUKs in their centers is the likelihood of other concepts wanting to go into those high-profile spaces.

Man, that fcuking sucks…
No surprise about this. Locations were fair to excellent. Was rent over-spend an issue? They needed to run much faster to keep up with the pack in this retail sector and didn’t. They needed more than a cute play on spelling and words to be successful today. Discounted sublease, if their landlord’s agree, will continue to be a drag the balance sheet.
