Visiting the Apple Store in my market is almost like a trip to Disney World; it’s very visual, sleek and is always paked. You can see & handle the latest Apple gizmos, helpful sales reps are all around and the check-out lanes are several customers deep. I don’t think MS can duplicate this same energy at a Microsoft Store when you could probably get the same MS software at Costco or Best Buy at a less expensive price.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who noticed that picture looks suspiciously similar to a Mac store!

Check out the latest blog entry by Tim Girvin, a graphic designer who has worked with both Apple and Microsoft. Regarding the opening of the Scottsdale Microsoft store: “It’s interesting to me, given the potential to knock one out of the ballpark on a uniquely Microsoft premise of holistic brand design, that they chose the path of flattery.”

Is it because Microsoft has built an empire on other people’s ideas?
