Chipotle Expansion Not Slowing

The recession is not slowing up Chipotle Mexican Grill’s growth. The chain is opening between 120 and 130 new units this year after debuting 121 locations last year.

This growth is coming as the restaurant chain turned in strong fiscal year results. Same-store sales were up 2% for the year, and net income rose 86%, to $31.6 million.

The news follows Chick-fil-A’s announcement that it is upping its store count as well. It seems like fast-food expansion is making up for some of the store closures seen in the industry.

Is this growth sustainable?

All of the hard surfaces equate to a very noisy atmosphere. Hope they would do something about that.
